{"id":1404,"date":"2015-06-08T10:10:15","date_gmt":"2015-06-08T10:10:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/terradibargon.com\/blog\/?page_id=1404"},"modified":"2020-05-27T14:21:22","modified_gmt":"2020-05-27T14:21:22","slug":"location","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/terradibargon.com\/blog\/en\/location\/","title":{"rendered":"Location"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4>The\u00a0 <em>cantina<\/em> where wine is produced, stowed and sold.<\/h4>\n<p>Back in the thirties when Roberto\u2019s father returned from the United States, where he had emigrated in the twenties because phyloxera that had destroyed all existing\u00a0 vines, bought a <em>cantina<\/em>, still called <em>della compagnia<\/em> from the name of the area in which it is located.\u00a0 In the <em>cantina della compagni<\/em>a\u00a0 white wine was produced for the purpose of selling and red wine for the family to drink.\u00a0 At the beginning of the fifties he also bought <em>the betiga de la val\u00e8ita<\/em>, (so called in dialect) from the name of the lane that leads to the <em>cantina<\/em>. Named <em>la val\u00e8ita\u00a0<\/em> from the name of the lane where the water from the rain used to flow down to the\u00a0 brook. Nowadays the brook has been covered and transformed in the main street in Riomaggiore\u00a0 named Via Colombo.<br \/>\nWine has been produced since then in the two <em>cantine<\/em>. In more recent times<em> la betiga de la val\u00e8ita<\/em> was a place for a local group of friends\u00a0 where to meet and drink until very late at night.\u00a0 Sometimes also the first adventurous turists were invited in, forerunners of a turist development unthinkable in those times. The ritual continues nowadays with\u00a0 tourists visiting the<em> cantina<\/em>\u00a0 and tasting <strong>Sciacchetr\u00e0<\/strong>. In one of these encounters we met Anke ed Irina, they provided the German and Russian version of this site!<\/p>\n<p>The renewal of the <em>cantina<\/em> has connected dinamically the archiect and the operators, mosltly friends. In Chiara\u2019s project the poor stone structure is enhanced\u00a0 with a daring glass structure next to the stone area. It includes\u00a0 hiking\u00a0 up to the terraces and back down to the cantina if you arrive by train to Riomaggiore. Remember to come with appropriate hiking shoes!<\/p>\n<p>At a certain point the path divides itself : choose the left side, walk up, sooner or later you will see the landscape here below and finally you will reach: strada Provinciale delle Cinque Terre where there is the entrance to the terraced land.<\/p>\n<p>If you choose the left side, no problem when you reach just walk\u00a0 on to the strada Provinciale delle Cinque Terre and turn left, you will soon find the entrance.<\/p>\n<p>Time needed to reach the entrance to the terraced land. It depends on individual fitness, between 20 to 30mts, elevation is more or less, 500 ft. a similar amount of time to descend down to the cantina where wine tasting takes place. To visit the terraces will take between 20 t0 40mts, wine tasting as much.
